Hemophilia

What is Hemophilia?

Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder in which the blood lacks sufficient clotting factors (most commonly factor VIII or IX). Without treatment, internal bleeding into joints and muscles causes severe pain, disability and can be life-threatening.

Treatment with factor concentrates is extremely expensive and lifelong — far beyond the means of most affected families in Pakistan.
